Isabella Grace

Isabella Grace was born on March 6, 2007 weighing in at 1 lb 14 oz and 13 inches long. She was not expected to make her debut until May 10, 2007. But, God, and Izzy had other plans. Isabella’s mom and dad were scared for their little bundle. They were told that her mommy had lost all of her amniotic fluid and that Isabella was the size of a 25 week old baby in utero. Her heart rate kept declining, so the doctor decided to do an emergency c-section. She was a fighter from the get go.

The neonatal doctor was unsure as to why she had stopped growing and why her mom lost all of her fluid. He ran some tests and it was determined that Becca had contacted fifths disease, while pregnant. Isabella had contacted the disease and caused her to become very ill. Isabella quit producing urine, therefore causing the loss of amniotic fluid, and had been “a fish out of water” for who knows how long. The lack of oxygen in the womb, caused brain damage but, at the time the doctors were unsure as to how much. Her parents were told that she would spend some time in the NICU. Isabella spent two months and two days in the NICU. She fought and fought to survive, and did she ever! She was feisty in the womb, and even feistier in the NICU.

Isabella was able to go home on May 8, 2007. That was the best day ever! She was tiny weighing it at 4.5 lbs and her mom and dad was scared! They were unsure how to care for their tiny miracle. They were told she would have developmental delays as well as cognitive delays. At six months old, Izzy was not sitting up yet. It was around this age that her neonatal doctor determined that she had cerebral palsy. Her parents knew it would be a long tough road but would fight for her no matter what.

Isabella has been going to therapy since she was 3 months old. She goes to Kids Team where she receives physical, occupational, and speech therapies. Her parents were told that she might not ever walk depending on the severity of her CP. But, God had other things in store for that little angel. Isabella began to crawl at 20 months old. She began walking at three years old and talking at five years old. Izzy has had her fair share of struggles but has been determined to succumb anything!

Isabella had her first seizure when she as 4 years old. After many tests, her neurologist confirmed that she had epilepsy. But, with the right meds, she has been seizure free since 2013. She l has daily life struggles but still overcomes them. She’s hard headed, stubborn, strong-willed, loving, compassionate, heart-felt. The list goes on! She continues to brighten lives every day. All who meet her, love her! She truly is an inspiration and a gift from God. Jordan and Becca are so thankful that God called on them to be her parents. He knew what was in store for these two people, and He knew that Isabella was the answer! We love our blonde hair, blue eyed, baby girl!
